As we age, we lose fat in our soft tissues which gives our face an old and lifeless expression. Also, as we age, our faces lose fat in the temples and cheeks, so the face takes on the shape of a pear. Restoring fat to the temples and cheeks not only restores the youthful shape of the face, but also naturally lifts sagging skin, reducing wrinkles and sagging jaw skin.
In some cases, facelifting can be avoided by fat transfer, and in other cases, fat transplantation is used in conjunction with facelifting (sometimes called stem cell facelifting).
FAT TRANSFER PROCEDURE
Fat transfer involves removing fat from a patient’s abdomen or thighs to put it in certain parts of the face that are starting to lose fat. This procedure results in rejuvenation and gives natural and youthful results.
Although commonly used on the face, fats can be transplanted to any area of the body that needs to be filled, such as scars, hands, areas of excessive liposuction, breasts, etc. The fats are liposucted from the excess area, rinsed and injected into the desired place. This procedure can be performed comfortably, under local anesthesia, and the recovery period is very short.
