IMPROVE THE LOOK OF YOUR SCAR BY TREATMENTS IN A MEDIC
Scars – whether caused by accidents or surgery, are sometimes unpredictable and conditioned by our genetics. The way the scar will form depends on how your wounds heal, the nature of the injury and the skills of your surgeon.
Many factors can affect the quality of scarring, including the size and depth of the wound, the blood supply to the area, the thickness and color of the skin, and the direction of the scar.
How dissatisfied the quality of the scar will make you is a matter of personal perception.
Although the scar cannot be completely removed, we can often improve the appearance of the scar by making it less visible by using steroid injections, lasers, or surgical correction.
SHOULD I TREAT MY SCAR?
Many scars that seem large and unattractive at first glance may become less visible over time. We usually recommend waiting a year or more after an injury or surgery, before recommending surgical correction of the scar.
When you come for a consultation, we will present you with the possibilities of treating your scar, possible risks and benefits, as well as the expected outcomes. Be honest in talking to us about your expectations, and we will make sure to point out realistic expectations and clear explanations. Do not hesitate to ask any questions or express any doubts you have.
WILL MY SCAR DISAPPEAR AFTER THE TREATMENT?
All the treatments described above aim to improve the appearance of the scar, but it will never completely disappear.
