Tightening of sagging skin after weight loss

Removal of excess skin and subcutaneous adipose tissue on all parts of the body, resulting from severe weight loss. For this operation, the patient must be well prepared, have a stable weight for the last six months and not suffer from other serious diseases.

PROCEDURE FOR REMOVAL OF EXCESS SKIN AND SUBCUTANEOUS FATTY TISSUE

Due to the large volume, this operation is usually performed in two acts. The first act is much larger and includes abdominoplasty or removal of the hanging abdomen with strengthening of the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall, removal of excess skin from the hips and back with the formation of a sitting region that gets a rounded contour, as well as reduction of thigh circumference by skin tightening and liposuction. In the same or in the next act, brachioplasty or tightening of the upper arms is performed, as well as possible liposuction of the lower legs. In the second act, a few months later, the breasts are corrected by reducing the excess skin and adding volume to the silicone implants as needed. In the same act, secondary corrections of minor irregularities that remain after the first operation are performed.

DURATION OF THE PROCEDURE AND ANESTHESIA

The operation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts 6 to 8 hours. The patient usually stays in the hospital for 3 to 4 days, and up to a week if necessary, to be under constant medical supervision. Threads are usually removed in two weeks, while elastic clothes are worn for about a month.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS

Decline in blood count in the immediate postoperative course, which is resolved by rapid blood transfusion. Swelling, bruising, irregularity of scars, delayed healing of certain parts of the wound are common but rare complications of any surgical procedure.
